Shipping delay compensation

hi folks

My wife & I have arrived in NZ from UK 2 weeks ago to find out our shipping has only just left the UK! After being told it will be here mid March it will now not arrive til mid June!! That means 21 weeks from the time of packing in the UK.

I complained and they offered to give us 350 uk. the total cost of shipping was 2000 (including insurance). I have asked for more but am concerned they offered compensation so quick.

Any one have any experiences with claiming from shipping companies for delay ? Could they be out of contract and could we go to the department of fair trade for more cash ? Considering we have had to buy everything to live for the next 2 months from charity shops its not being much fun.
