Returning Residence Visa
My RRV ran out in 2006 and I haven't left NZ since I arrived in 2004. I have had a new UK passport issued in 2006 and got a new RRV in there (which ran out in 2006). I haven't ever travelled on my new passport. My residence permit in my old passport says I have the right to remain indefinitely ( I am on a spousal visa), the conditions say that that runs out when I leave New Zealand (which I haven't). But it's in my old passport. So that visa still applies, right?
It's only 2 years and my new passport runs out. So at some point I am going to have to get a new passport. I think I may as well get an NZ passport and then I don't have to get a new RRV as well. Also my wife is a kiwi, the kids were all born here, so we may as well all be the same nationality (albeit one has a different accent). Any thoughts. Cheers |
Re: Returning Residence Visa
this says it just transfers
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...nts/rrvholder/ You would need to be a NZ Citizen to get a NZ passport "Your entitlement to a New Zealand Passport Only New Zealand citizens are entitled to a New Zealand Passport. The information you give us will help us confirm that you are a New Zealand citizen." taken from: http://www.passports.govt.nz/vwluResources/editable-adult-new-form/$file/editable-adult-new-form.pdf |

Re: Returning Residence Visa
Sounds good to me if you want a NZ passport. Apply for citizenship and get one.

Re: Returning Residence Visa
If you are not planning on going anywhere for a few months, I'd think NZ citizenship would be the easiest way to go for you.
It would be a lovely day for all your family and once done you could apply for a shiny NZ passport. |
