Results from NZQA

At last! I finally have my assessment from NZQA. I have been given a Level 7 for my Bachelor of Education Honours Degree. Bit confused as on the reverse of the assessment it states that Honours degrees are a Level 8. But hey I've waited 90 days for this and I'm not about to give them another $225 to look at it again.
So time scale: VISA card drawn against on 31st July
date on assessment 13th October
date sent with courier 28th October
date received in UK 5th November
And in all this time I have never heard one word from NZQA to even aknowledge receipt of my documents!! Bitter? Me?
And why did they ask for photocopies of everything and then send them all back?

Hi Can u help me with a NZQA question. I submitted my BA Honours Degree in Photography for Final assessment. The preliminary assessment stated a level 7. Now they want an academic transcript with a list of courses I completed and the grades I achieved. All I have is my final certificate, which I sent them. I had this 22 years ago, so kept nothing else from college. What do I do??

Any help much appreciated, Lindsay

No worries Lindsay, I completed my degree in 1986 and all I had to do was write to the (now) University where I studied, send them a cheque and they sent me a huge bound transcript of my course and grades. Ring first or email them.I had to send for a new certificate too as that had got filed somewhere very safe along the years. Then photocopy it all and send it with all the other documents NZQA request,Good luck

That was quick!! Thanks, thats a bit more re-assuring, I was thinking this was going to be impossible, and we are all already low on points. My College is also now a university. Thats sounds achievable, tho, so I will give them a ring before they break up for Xmas.

Many thanks, Lindsay

Down on the south coast, what was West Sussex Inst. of Higher Education, sites at Chichester and Bognor Regis! It's now gone up in the world and is the University of Chichester. They were more than helpful, think the transcript cost me £25 - lord knows why you then have to photocopy it cos they send ALL the documents back anyway. Had to get another certificate too, that was originally from CNAA but is now issued by Open University - they were very slow but got there in the end.
Moral of the story is to keep everything, forever!!

that's because UK honours degrees are 3 years.

NZ honours degrees are 3 years bachelors degree and then an extra postgraduate year to get your honours in a specialist subject. so 4 years studying. which means you get level 8.

Beg to differ. If I had left after 3 years of study I would have had a Bachelor of Education Ordinary Degree, but I studied for 4 years and left with a Bachelor of Education Honours Degree (Primary). So, same amount of time as NZ.

Re: Results from NZQA

apologies - i didn't know the structure of your specific degree - was just speaking generally.

yeah, that sounds weird - i don't know much about teaching degrees (having studying economics) but maybe they compared you to someone who did a 3 year ordinary degree and then a graduate diploma/certificate in education, not honours, or maybe it's got to do with points, you have to an extra 120 or something like that, to get honours.
hmm dunno! I guess it's not a big deal if you only need level 7 anyway but it is annoying how NZQA seem to make up their own rules sometimes.

You get used to it the further down the emigrating route you go!Would have been nice to get more points for my degree though.

Yeah I finally received my academic transcript last week, sent it off to NZQA and on the website it has been approved. Its only taken a month! Now when it gets back to me I can send it off to join our ITA! Do you happen to know what happens if they dont make a decision and the 3 months on your medical runs out. Do you have to go through all the medicals again?

Thanks Lindsay
