Default Resident to Permanant resident

Hi all quick question,

We are looking at going home to UK for next summer but this coincides with our two year conditions. Can you apply for permanent residency whilst you are outside of NZ - in London for example.

Also does this mean (hypothetically) that we could effectively go home at the start of September (arrived July last year and Ive worked full-time ever since for the Government) and still apply for permanent residency next year?

You have been in New Zealand as a resident for a total of at least 41 days in the 12-month period immediately before lodging your permanent resident visa application, and all members of your immediate family who were included in your residence application have resided in New Zealand for a total of at least 184 days in the two-year period immediately before lodging your permanent resident visa application.

Thanks in advance,

Emma

If you arrived in the the July you can apply the day the visa conditions run out, they are very quick turnaround so within a week. I am aware that you can get it extended for a few weeks, you just need to make sure that the time hasn't lapsed whilst you are out of the country or they may not let you back in.
immigration website will tell you if it can be done in the UK. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...nts/nextsteps/
