Residency from WTR visa
 

Hi, has anyone recently gained their residency from a WTR visa? We are due to apply in April and I cannot make sense of the costs. Can anyone tell me how much it is and how long it took

$930 less $92, however you will have to pay the migrant levy at the end when you send in the passports which is at the bottom of this link.

I understand it's difficult to work out as Resident Visa from WTR visa isn't specifically mentioned, so I chose other. I'm fairly sure the costs for Resident Visa from RFW (Residence from work) are the same costs.

Yes, you need 'Residence: residence from work' for a WTR residence application :)

It was around $890 I think when we applied plus the migrant levy charge which I almost got out of paying.

Word of advice, get everything ready now and send it off asap. Especially if you are having to send your application to the Business Migrant branch in Wellington.

Why, we sent our application off around November and we didn't get a decision until the final week. I was all set to lose my job and go back to the UK.

Got there in the end but it cost us an awful lot. We couldn't get a mortgage, we lost out on building our new home and I had to wait 2 months before confirming my new job.

do you know, can we apply before the 2 years from when the visa is issued? ours was issued on 16th April, can we apply before that date?

Unfortunately not

Under the requirements - you would need to have been in that job/position for 2 years. Therefore as soon as April 16 comes round, you can apply

I hope the main applicant has been in the same position for that time. Otherwise, the 2 years restarts.

yes he has, and doesnt intend to change. I had heard that applications were taking up to the extra 6mths to complete, which seems ridiculous if nothing has changed since the issue of visas
