Default Residency granted!!

Hey guys and gals,

Just wanted to share our news.

Today we received our 5 passports back inclusive of Residency Visas.

Our Residency has been granted with travel conditions... If I understand correctly we can come and go from New Zealand as much as we like over the next 2 years as Residents. On the expiry of those two years we'd have to apply for a variation of travel conditions in order to get an extension of the travel conditions.

However once we've been here for two years on a Residency Visa we can then apply for a Permanent Residents Visa which has no travel conditions at all.

After our roller-coaster ride of an emotional journey to get here, finally having the Residency Visa feels wonderful!

Thank you very much to everyone that assisted us along the way!

:-)

Congratulations!!!! Well done! I know what you mean about the emotional rolleroaster

When are you planning on landing on New Zealand soil?

EDIT: Just noticed you're already there!

We are indeed... Been here since September 2009, though on work permits since then. They were due to expire in Sept this year... Now we're good to stay as long as we want...

It's been one hell of a roller-coaster... All smoothing out quite nicely now though. Just got to sell our house in the UK and perhaps we can then finally look to buy somewhere out here!

Many Congratulations

If there are 5 passports does that mean the new baby has got residency then? Sorry can't remember how many of you there are

You are right about the visa, 2 years in which you can come and go as a resident and then you need to renew it. If you have spent enough time in NZ [or fulfilled any of the other conditions] then you will get a PR visa which is indefinite and you only need to get a new one when you get a new passport.

Yes that's right, all five of us including our 7 week old baby have been granted residency.

Yes it's a great feeling too... A weight off our shoulders for sure. Only 7 weeks ago we thought we'd never get everything done in time. But with the cooperation of our fantastic case-worker at NZIS it all came together.
