Residency approved!! Or is it??
Woop woop! Received letter confirming residency application successful, just need to pay levy and send in passports! Yipee!!!
My niggling worry is... we applied as skilled migrants and got points for having a job in nz in an area of long term skills shortage (marketing), but the company where I work is making redundancies...eek! I've been told my job is safe, but just worried if i do end up getting cut.. what happens to our residency status?:( What are the conditions of residency over the first 2 years? Would I have to find another job in marketing ie what i applied under originally? or is it as simple as i just need to spend so many days per year in nz for the next 2 years? Help.. confused / looking for clarification... |
Re: Residency approved!! Or is it??
If you were granted Permanent Residency I reckon you'll be fine, i think its only an issue if you have a WTR visa. So long as you had a genuine offer of employment when the visa was granted then I dont see the problem. :D

Re: Residency approved!! Or is it??
Our PR visa (under skilled migrant route) has a section 18 condition, which basically says that after you have activated your visa, you must be in employment within three months for a period of three months. Then, you apply to have that removed when you have satisfied that.
