Relationship proof........and other things
 

Just received an email from case officer....:eek:
Not good...
They want more proof of our relationship together,been married 13months,lived together for 17 months,been together a total of 3yrs...
We have supplied,what we thought was enough to prove things,but it's not:curse:...They want more...
Also they are questioning my job offer,as it may not be under the SMC..
again i have already sent them what they want:mad:,ie offer of employment and job discription,i have already been informed that my qualification do not need to be assessed...

How high do you need to jump,it just seems to be one hurdle after another...
And it does piss you off...I suppose it comes down to how keen are you to go..:unsure:

After reading threads about job ,migrants and visas,makes you think...Are they starting to move the goal posts......mmmm i wonder:confused:

Anyway just wanted to get things off my chest....;)

Hi,

As regards proof of relationship, your marriage certificate, photos, anniversary/christmas card, joint bank account or joint bill should more than cover it.

As for the job, the only other way round it is to go for a work permit and then use the points for the fact that your working in NZ for your ITA.

Its definately one hurdle after another.

we submited pics dating back 10 years , our marriage cert (june this year) morgage stuff, our daughters birth cert.. we have been asked for a bank statement from last 3 months and she seems to be happy with that

what is killing us is the 10 yr proof of self employed income as we can only get 6 years worth so fingers crossed when it drops on her desk this mon she is happy with that

Good luck with yours...I thought we would have had the same problem as yourselves regarding self employment,as thats what i was about 7yrs ago,we have had nothing back from NZIS regarding this.Maybe it depends on who your case officer is...:eek:

Also my medical certificate has been referred to a Medical assessor,they have told us 3-5 wks...Thats christmas....HO HO HO...
AND........They also want more information on my step daughter,she's 6,had her ears pined back in op earlier this year,they want to know all about that.......where does it end....:eek:..I know when we get the blue stickers...:unsure:

I know when we came over, I was amazed at the depths of the proof we had to provide. Married for nearly two years, together for seven, two kids! They were looking for proof that we were together financially, emotionally and sexually. I kind of thought the kids would be adaquate of this! My husband was my sponsor, so I don't know if that made the situation different for us.

We had to take lots of cards (anniversary, bon voyage stuff) and show photos of us with extended family. They even used our passports to show a detailed graph of when we were ever in different countries from each other. Which we had to explain of course.

Anyway, on the day of our immigration interview, we'd been arguing like cat and dog all morning. I told Steve before the interview, for christssake lets act like a married couple and be all lovey for the interview. Which we proceeded to do. The immigration officer stepped out of the office to photocopy just about everything. And our argument continued from where it had left. I ended up shouting, 'I should have married a bl**dy Aussie, it'd be worth all this cr*p!' It was just after that point my husband pointed to a sign that warned, 'this room is under survellience' Oops! Still, managed to get my PR! Guess they figured only a married couple could argue like that!

Got lots of pics,all on the computer though,yes they do show the dates ,but when you print them off,they dont show this:eek::eek:

I think it would depend on the Immigration Officer. We had some emails on the computer from years ago, but of course, technically we could have the wrong date on them, I think that's why they preferred post, but hey, who sends letters nowadays? I think ANYTHING can help. It would be particularly helpful if they went from an image of you in a brown suit in front of a ford capri to a ford escort and shoulder pads, to standing together in front of the Millenium Dome thing. I think you get the theme here?!! We were fairly limited as we were already in NZ and didn't factor in bringing over every scrap of 'togetherness' over the last few years. Rather niavely assuming that marriage and kids would suffice. We ended up taking a shoe box of all sorts of stuff, little love notes to each other, etickets of joint flights, any pictures that I had allowed to be taken with me in them, joint bank account, joint bills, xmas cards, just anything really and they took pretty much everything! Just write the details on the back of the photos - place, event, date, who's in the photo, etc. Also for proof you can use details of any joint clubs you belong to, insurance policies, but the best one our consultant told us to do was letters from family, friends and work colleagues giving their name, address and contact details, addressed to whom it may concern at NZ immigration. Get them to say how they know you, for how long, how they came to know you, state their views on your relationship, give examples of family holidays, events, stressful times you've survived together etc the kind of thing and a final paragraph stating whether in their opinion your relationship is strong enough to cope with emigration to a new country etc. All immigration want to be sure of is that you are in a permanent, stable, loving, ongoing relationship that is recognised and accepted by family, friends and community. Make sure the letters are factual - they might just phone at random to check on details, although they didn't in our case.

Makes a joke of the 12 month relationship thing they ask for......

I know its seem a lot of hoops but as far as I was told it is the last 12 months they are particularly interested in as they don't want people coming over who's marriage is already on the rocks, with one partner getting in the back of the others application, only for them to go their separate ways shortly afterwards and there being a spouse (and kids) then reliant on NZ welfare.

What line of work are you in? I didn't understand the comment in your opening post about job not being on SMC?

Im an aircraft engineer,so the SMC thing came as a bit of a suprize....as i have already sent them my job offer also job description and contract....so it was a suprize to me,i've already sent an email to case and explained this again,so to be honest dont know what they are after,again i think it comes down to who your case officer is......

I've just posted my ITA submission and am now worried that I haven't included enough information on our relationship, no photos or letters or cards.

To be honest.......Not sure?????:confused:
What we are doing now is getting letters from friends and relatives,saying how long we have been together....We are also sending old xmas cards,love notes...(yes i know what you are thinking);)..

Had an email off case officer this morning answering some questions i asked,what i have done was email some photos to her as an attachment ,as these show dates and times..She replied by saying she has added them to our case file...:)As i have said in earlier threads ,its one hurdle after another..

Hmm, OH and I don't have any joint accounts and the household bills are in my name as I lived here first. OH has mobile phone bills and his bank account details at this address, we have council tax bill in both names and a co-habitation agreement from the solicitor when we first got together, afew photos but usually one of us behind the camera. :rofl: Going to be really easy for us then.......

Yeah, but what you do have is a good start. Have you been on holiday? Do you have any booking forms? Travel insurance showing both your names? Get relationship testimonials from friends, family, neighbours, work colleagues. Use any invitations you have had to any weddings, christenings, parties/functions that have been addressed to you jointly.

Oh, and one thing I forgot to say before about relationship testimonials is get the author to send to you both (so both names on the envelope) at the address you are applying from (normally your home address).

NZ Immigration like to see, where possible, the envelopes for things such as personal letters, invitations so that they can see that they were addressed to you both as a couple and the postmark and address.
