I have a job offer to start on 30th March & now we do not know how long this will take...
Anyone know how the referral works? What do they look at? Will I be called for an other examination??
Oh!!! I thought I was SO close.... Yet so FAR!!!!!!

We have had to refer your medical certificate to our medical assessors. As immigration officers we do not have sufficient knowledge to make decisions on medical issues. I will not be able to move forward with assessing your application until I received the results of this assessment. Also I am unable to give you any time guidelines for how long your assessment will take, all I can say is that this will impede on your processing time

Re: Referral of medical certificates....
Hi,
What a pain in the a**e the whole medical situation is, it appears that they like to make you run through hoops for every slight thing.
If possible (if it is not too personal) keep us posted on what further info. is required as we are in a similar situation where our daughter had surgery on her kidney due to scarring from urine infections three years ago and we know that she will get referred, but until our ITA gets reviewed and sent to the assessor we dont really know what information they will require. She hasn't seen her consultant or had any tests done on her since the operation and has perfect kidney function etc... To be honest due to her age we dont want any unnecessary tests performed on her, but I guess if we want PR then we do whatever NZIS want even if it goes against what we think is acceptable treatment for children.
Anyway good luck I hope it all gets resolved quickly for you.
Jenny

Hi Jenny,
It is a pain, but I am trying to remain positive...
At the end of the day, the op was in July 2000 and since then I have not had one problem... So really, I do not see how they could refuse me entry on this ground?!?!
I reckon as long as you proove you're healthy n genuine, it'll work out fine...
I will post back once I hear more, or if any more paperwork is requested...

Hi,
It is soooo frustrating isn't it. We are in the same boat as you I have also been referred to a medical assessor. So fingers crossed lets hope we don't have to wait too long.

the medical process is a nightmare.
Also what happens is your file sits in either the immigraion office or the MAs office for 1-2 weeks each time before they look at it.
Sometimes if you check they will say it hasnt been sent over yet etc.....grrr

One week in... No news!
I was due to start my new job in Auckland today... And am still in sunny (not!) Birmingham...
I want to call/email my CO all the time but I am not as I dont want to get on her nerves...
Meanwhile, am sure the file is sitting on the medical assessors desk!!
GRRRRRR
Rant over!

Re: Referral of medical certificates....
Hey All,
Need to share this, and let off some steam!!
First woke up this morning to an email from my future employer saying that if no visa within 4 weeks they may review my job offer....:curse:
Then an email from my CO saying that the medical assessor got back to him/her saying:
Called 5 Renal Specialists in/around Birmingham... With the Easter break I would need to wait 3/4 weeks before being seen... Then had a week or two to get report... By which time, I could loose my job offer! Tried explaining the urgency, but to no avail! Even GP said he can only see me on Tuesday next week to give me referral letter (ah?!?)
So I thought, let me call the hospital where I had the surgery in Paris... Guess what? Once I explained my life to the secretary, she triple booked me in for Tuesday and promised she would type the report on the day... Ok I have to fly to Paris, pay for hotel there, pay for appointment... BUT clearly it will speed this up...
I just wonder (tonight only) "Is it really worth it?"....
Thankfully, after forking out £1,200 I will not give up just yet!

you must obtain a report from a Renal Specialist. Below is his request:
" Enclosed reports are not up to date. Please provide specialist report with current state, treatment and prognosis. Pleas include future medical/surgical needs."
First, I get angry! Second, call the OH... Third, start moving on this..." Enclosed reports are not up to date. Please provide specialist report with current state, treatment and prognosis. Pleas include future medical/surgical needs."

Sorry to hear that, no wonder you're angry. It's not like it's a current problem.
Any chance you could make it a bit of a romantic getaway in Paris, have a bit of a holiday as well? Or are you and the OH stuck at work
I'm hoping it all turns out OK for you both. All fingers crossed
Sue

Cheers Sue!
OH is working no way to get time off... Plus the cost of a last minute flight or Eurostar to Paris is awful... SO I'll go on my own & stay with relatives...
Forgot to say, I met my CO when I went to get my passport this afternoon. She was lovely, recognised me as I walk in. She left her desk & the person she was helping, came over & said "Hi, Mathew!" She recognised me from my passport I assumed as we've never met before. Just her warm welcome made my day a tad bit better...
I guess am lucky in the fact that I seem to have a very nice & understanding CO...
I am trying hard to remain positive... The Glass Is Half Full!!! Yea??

Sorry to hear that, but at least its looking a little more promising with your trip to Paris. What a shame your Oh can't go with you. Surely now your CO knows how important the speediness of this is, once you submit your new report it should surely speed things up ?
We are still waiting to heard from our MA, but fingers crossed for you

Re: Referral of medical certificates....
Hey guys!
Meant to post but been running round like a headless chicken lately!!
Got to Paris on Monday as planned, met the specialist on Tuesday... Hoping to fly back to UK Wednesday... NO NO NO NO NO :curse:
He then asks me to undergo blood testS & echogrpahies...
Anyway, cut long story short, had the damn report/letter as requested by the medical assessor late Friday eve... I ended up being a stalker calling the specialist's secretary all the times...
Still need to get it translated n off to NZI! I kept on emailing my CO too so she knows what's going on & she said she'll ensure everything is ready for when she gets answer from the med assessor...
Fingers crossed as I can't really deal with any more obstacles....
