do they stamp passport or do you just have to keep the electronic copy in the passport?

If you go to human dude then yes, if your passport has a chip in it and you go thru the electronic automatic gate instead then no

Or if you mean is it physically stickered in your passport or stored electronically then no, its not stickered. Chip or no chip

The WHV was linked to our passport numbers, and when we went to the machine it was all linked electronically. We checked with an immigration officer and they assured us all was fine.

Later on we checked on our immigration log in page and it had our date of entry into NZ as the date the WHV was activated.

Also, if you lose the paper copy of the visa you can download as many copies as you want from the e-mail immigration send you as it's sent as a PDF.
