Questions about accredited employer visa

Hi Everyone,
I am having a bit of a crisis and was hoping someone might be able to give some advice....my husband has been working for an accredited employer in Wellington for the last 4 months. A few days ago his boss told him that he wanted to change his position and reduce his salary by over 50%. We were shocked. The new salary they are offering is only $50,000 p/y, which as I understand is too low. Don't accredited employers have to offer at least $55,000 p/y? And are employers allowed to change an employees position and salary after they have secured a visa? We have looked on the immigration website but can't seem to find a lot of info regarding the employers obligations. Does anyone know who we can go to for help? Immigration? Department of labour? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Re: Questions about accredited employer visa

A change of role of >20% means it is a de facto redundancy but TBH it depends on his contract wording what he is entitled to. As he is effectively being forced out of the employment I'd find a lawyer specialising in employment law, they'll often do an initial consultation free.

Accredited employers don't have to offer >55k but there are implications if the role pays more or less than that figure.

Oh and I guess he'll be seeking other employment, can't imagine he'd want to continue there.... :(
