Question about medical and asthma

Re: Question about medical and asthma
Ha, you're probablly imagining it now because you're worried about it!! Asthma won't be an issue, I'm early 30's and had it since being a teen, just use ventolin as and when and have repeat prescription, i put this on my medical form and nothing has been said about it! You'll be fine, its awful going for the medicals though as you start to analyse you and your families health, which is mainly good, and pick out little things, which honestly won't matter.

Funny thing is, ordinarily, I just don't worry about stuff....what will be will be.....BUT.....I really want to live in NZ so I will be so p*****d off if I can't go, cos they find something I didn't know I had. I am knocking on a bit and although I don't have problems.....my body has never been my temple.
I'm being a total prat actually....will be all over soon.....

No, i think what you are experiencing is entirely normal. I remember going for my chest xray and thinking 'what if they find something!!?'. Of course, they didnt but you are just at their mercy. I have to say, they do go through everything with a fine toothed comb at immigration and will question anything, like a blood result that is slightly out of the normal range. Its quite common for them to ask for specialist reports on conditions you may have had or do have but need no treatment. This seems to be par for the course and although you feel like they are 'targeting' you they really are just covering themselves and searching every avenue, to determine whether you will cost them money. The conditions they tend to deny you residence for are those which are pretty severe/terminal and the list is on their website. I'm sure you will be fine and like i said we all felt like you do right now!! x

Nah.....I do have my full contingent of limbs....mind you the brain cells are disappearing at a great rate of knots. Hopefully I will be able to string a couple of sentences together on the day and my early onset dementia doesn't become too apparent
I read the NZ manual for medical examiners yesterday. Yes I know I really do need to get a life. Anyway I was even more worried at one stage. It mentions breast, vaginal and rectal examinations and then says it covers this area in a later chapter. I nearly died a death....thinking I've got to have my 'twinkle' checked out. NZ definately ain't worth that......Phew......its got to have been a good 5 mins later when I read that I've only got to have my boobs prodded and thats bad enough.

Hey Strawbie, are you still in Yorks? If so, when are you hoping to make the big move and where?

Hi Maria, yes we are still here!! Live quite near to Halifax. We have the house for sale and WHEN it sells we shall go!! We are hoping to head to Christchurch, on the outskirts somewhere, have a few ideas but will spend a week or so having a good look!! What about you??

We are hoping to go up to Northland but it very much depends on the job. There still are nursing jobs but they are much fewer than last year. To get there I might not have the choice I was hoping for. My background is A&E but might not get it. It really isn't set in stone where we go. For us we want a rural lifestyle.

Re: Question about medical and asthma
I declared it and there was no problem getting the visa - wasnt even mentioned.
Funny thing though was when i went the docs in Auckland i was told i'd come to the asthma capital of the world!
Plus NZ didnt have the inhalers i use certified so i had to get them imported from the UK.
