Question about Citizenship
Heres an interesting point prompted by a discussion in another Forum
After 5 years as a Permanent Resident you are allowed to apply for citizenship
But when does the 5 years start from?
1 - The date the PR is granted
2 - The date the PR is activated, i.e. the date you first arrive in NZ
3 - The date the Permanent Returning Residents Visa is granted i.e. 2 years after your first arrival
Has anyone asked about this with NZIS???

Re: Question about Citizenship
I thought the clock started running once PR was activated (if outside NZ when issued) or granted (if already in NZ). The first 2 years is 'probation' then if you meet the criteria you apply for indefinite return visa then its another 3 years till you can apply for citizenship.
