Query regarding applying for SMC on the basis of contractual Job in NZ?

Query regarding applying for SMC on the basis of contractual Job in NZ?
Hi,
I just want to ask that can anyone apply for SMC on the basis of job that is contractual....I mean not permanent? As I have searched for everywhere on operations manual and didnt find any such requirement. Also, in EOI, there are two options in Skilled Employment tab in which they ask for:
Is your job offer/employment less than 12 months?
Does it mean, can a job be less than 12 months....?
Will it be fine, if someone has job like this and wants to apply for SMC on the basis of that?
In my understanding and what I searched for, one should have a job in his/her skilled domain in order to qualify.
Hope anyone had got my question.
Waiting for the reply and if someone can find me any requirement related to that, I will be grateful.
