Qualifications recognised in NZ
I am a Professional Foot Care Specialist, I have a Diploma in Foot Care from a registered college here in the UK. I inquired about Chiropody on the LTSL it is on there, but I do not have a degree, so am not classed as a Chiropodist, but I am qualified to treat ailments of the feet, corns, verrucas, orthotics and assessments and general foot care.
How does the points system work with Diplomas please? and if I have more than one, do I get separate points awarded for each? as I am heading on a Diploma course in Thai Foot massage in the next couple of months too, if it all adds up to more points then it is all the better for me.
Thanks
p.s maybe somebody could link me to where I can find a list on what points I could gain etc before putting in EOI.

Re: Qualifications recognised in NZ
as far as we are aware diploma's have to be on the recognised academic bodies listed on the NZ Immigration website
this link might help you establish if it will be valid

First port of call is the Points Indicator.
I couldn't find Chiropodist listed at all. Podiatrist listed ANZSCO 252611.
I read that for this occupation in the UK diploma's have given way to degrees, just as the word chiropody seems to have given way to podiatry.
I couldn't find reference to acceptable qualifications for this occupation on the NZIS website or manual ( doesn't mean it isn't there. I may have missed it ) However, if it isn't already listed , then this would mean that your diploma(s) would need to be assessed by NZQA to see if they match the standard set by NZIS.
No . It is not separate points for each overseas qual. One gets the points if the overseas quals match the qualification standard here in NZ.
Please browse Careers NZ - podiatry click the link.
also contact Podiatrist Board NZ
Please note that for this occupation , Podiatrist, NZIS require NZ registration
What do you mean by this please?

Re: Qualifications recognised in NZ
Thank you for replying to me quirie.
I called the NZ immigration and someone returned my call and said that Chiropody was on the Long Term Shortage List..
How would the NZIS assess my qualifications/Diplomas? would I send it all course work etc...or references from tutors?
I am sorry if I am coming across thick in any way, but it is all a new concept to me, and want to get it just right before I apply.
Many Thanks

as of 26th Sept they are changing how things are assessed see my previous post from today. I personally would call NZ House on 01245 454448 (cheap number) and ask them direct

Re: Qualifications recognised in NZ
it should still just charge you a local rate charge as that line number is a "virtual" number that just redirects your call to NZ house and as you are being redirected you get the vm that dialling direct get. Hope that makes sense.

Please feel free to check HERE. Are you sure it was NZIS that you called? They don;t normally return calls like that on general queries.
