PR application - but I need my passport?!
 

Hey guys

Could someone tell me what the process is when handing in your application but you need your passport to travel for a couple of weeks? Can I hand it in so they can sight it, give it back whilst the application gets considered and handed back in after travelling? I'm assuming a certified copy won't cut the mustard! And I bet they do fook all work over the Xmas hols either!

Don't really want to bother my case officer again! Anyone got experience with this? Cheers

we didn't hand ours in at time of application. we took our application in and went through it all with a staff member at NZ House. we handed in certified copies

Passports will be requested when PR is approved, they reckon you'll get them back in 10 days....hhmmm....

Ours sent off with all documents for PR returned within about 3 to 5 days after showing delivered on the tracked courier postal service. This was sent to Christchurch.

On sending for its sticker, sent on the 3rd Nov, back by the 8th, but there was a slight delay as they couldn't use the PO Box number for courier delivery had to be an actual address. Auckland actually processed and did the sticker.

So really really quick in my experience.

Certified copy is fine... My original went, hubbys old original went (as had to renew straight after medicals), certified copy of his new one as he was out the country with work and had to have it.
They just request it when visa is approved... They held onto all our stuff until then.
Not a problem at all.
