Possible to get visa quickly if impress would-be employer??
We are looking (again) at moving to NZ under my OH's IT skills. (Previously here as dragonladybute but have changed e-mail address etc. and can't get back in!)
Is it possible to impress an employer so much that they push for you to get a visa quicker than normal? Or do you need a visa before you apply? If so, can we just go out on a working visa rather than Skilled?? What's the best / quickest way?? Questions....questions.... :) Thanks, |
Too old for Silver Fern visa!
I assume it's just an EOI for the SMC with a job offer. But are there any other ways and how possible is it to get a job without a visa? Any websites where we can look for jobs (other than Seek)?? |
Re: Possible to get visa quickly if impress would-be employer??
IT work seemed to be easier with boots on the ground. My husband came out for a few weeks to see a mate and was able to get a few interviews and was offered a job within the first week. He went to Immigration and got a temp work visa so he could start work straight away, he had put in the EOI before he left and just up dated it with the job offer which took him over the 140 points needed to get selection but it still took just over 3mths to get the ITA approved. Did mean we lived apart for nearly 4 mths whilst visa's, house etc where sorted.
There are no short cuts when it comes to getting a visa but there are visa's you can get that do not take as long. We feel he was extremely lucky to get an offer as since being here and having the occasional look at other job prospects they seem to be few and far between. |
