Lightbulb Is this possible?

We are waiting for the decision on my hubby's medical waiver, but my visa officer has said that I would be granted visas with our girls, and sponsor him to join us. I have been thinking (I know- miracles DO happen), and have come up with this idea. He could come out on a Visitors visa with us, then he will have 6 months to sort his medical issues (BMI), then he could apply for a visa while out there. Could I sponsor him on a family stream visa WHILE HE IS IN NZ? I can support him financially while he waits for this to happen, so cant see a problem. Any ideas would be great

Husband has weight issues, eh? Simple solution, reduce caloric intake and increase physical output. Short form, eat less energy dense food, move more. Easy formula, I now. However, implementing and sticking with it takes dedication, determination, strength and support.

Now, on to your visa. What sort of visa have you applied for?

HHHmmm! I can't see why not, in theory.

Personally, I think you should run this by your case officer. If NZIS are happy to have him here on a visitors visa, then at least you have all entered 'above board', if you see what I mean. No-one at NZIS will think it's some type of sneaky entry.

How long do you think it will take for him to gain an acceptable BMI ?

If you don't mind me being cheeky, what is his BMI? Wife is slightly overweight and family history of Diabeties and medical has been refered, hence the question!

Post Re: Is this possible?

I have applied on a SMC (I'm a nurse). I passed my medical, and my BMI was 38, although I've since lost 1 1/2 stone through Slimming World. Fred my hubby has a BMI of 47- 48 , but is well and able to work full time with no sick time off for years. He is trying to loose weight, but with all the unsurity has not been the most motivated bod in the world. We should hear about our waiver either today or tomorrow If he is failed, then we will reapply in about 6 months, after going on a huge weight loss push. He needs to lose about 4 stone to get down to a weight that they will consider acceptable- its going to be hard, as he works nights, but we want this SOOO MUCH!

All good wishes and good luck to Mr Alifox with his weight loss programme.

Perhaps have your own Mr Alifox weight loss thread and have him report on it once a week to aid motivation. I'm sure he would get lots of messages of support. He won't be the only big lad out there.

With that much weight to shed , you may be best off doing that in a familiar environment . Just my opinion though.
