We had phone interview today.. seemed to go ok, CO was v nice but gave nothing away. Should here by end of week...

One thing that did catch me out was that apparently you need to get a permanent job whilst in the initial 2yrs of a Skilled Work Visa ?
I realised you needed to work in the area you applied under, but wasn't aware of the issues around working as a Contractor.

I am currently an IT Project Manager contractor in the UK, and prefer the flexibility this offers, as well as slightly better money in general.


If necessary I can apply for a Perm job, but i was planning on getting Temporary/contract work, at least whilst I found my feet in NZ?


Has anyone else come across this requirement?

by the way, we are applying for Skilled migrant visa /no job offer.
