Passport/NZ Citizenshio for mum
Hi,
Looking for some advise, I currently live in the UK with my husband and 2 kids. We would like to move to New Zealand soon. I was born in New Zealand and have New Zealand passport, so theres no issue there. We would like to take my mum and brother with us .. both where born in the UK, my mum lived in New Zealand between 1974ish and 1981ish. Does anyone know if my mother would be entitled to citizenship through me or having lived there herself for a long period of time? What about my brother? Would I have to sponsor him? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Laura |

Did your mother not become a New Zealand citizen when she lived in NZ?
By the way, your children are New Zealand citizens by descent (get them passports etc), but also read the following about "upgrading" their citizenship to full NZ citizenship once they settle in NZ: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/New_Ze...hip_by_Descent |
