Question Passing the medical

Hi, i was just wondering if anyone has had any issues with passing the medical, how strictly do they stick to the guidelines? conditions im particularly concerned about are (not all me)

- Osteoarthritis in knees
- History of depression
- Type 1 diabetes

Are there any circumstances where medical waivers are granted if needs be?

Be prepared to have your case referred to the Medical Assessor (MA). We had to provide a specialists report for my son's Osgood-Schlatters (growing pains)!

Anything that comes up on your medical will be referred, my bloods had one or two sections slightly above average, that was referred and then a letter required to say I didnt have any other symptoms and it was just me not being 'average'. Also query on my x-ray, currently waiting for the first query to come back and then the second can go as it has to be done in order and cant go to two different people at the same time !!!

Be prepared for delays, lots of them.

A medical waiver is the end of the line. One would go through a referral process before that.

With that alone , there would be medical referrals & you would need consultant reports to try and prove to NZIS and NZ that the knees were not going to cost the country money in the next 4 years.
