Partner visa

My boyfriend has PR for New Zealand but lives in the UK. If we were to move there, would I be able to apply for a partner visa or would he have to be living there to sponsor me?

Thanks in advance!

Google NZ partner visa. I read it as he needs to be resident to get you a partner visa. But you may be able to get a visitors visa (12/24 months) and then apply once here.

he would have to be living here or show that NZ is his primary place of residence.

If you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident, you also may be able to sponsor a partner's visa. However, you will need to prove that New Zealand is your primary place of residence before you can support the application.

I read that I just thought that there might be some leeway. How are we supposed to prove that we've lived together for 12 months if one person is in new zealand and the other doesn't have a visa.

Re: Partner visa

how long has he been out of NZ

you can prove the relationship is a "true" relationship with holiday pics, receipts, photos, letters, media chat, fund transfers etc.
the main point he needs to show his primary home is NZ and he is contributing to NZ

It's my understanding that you don't need to be resident in NZ at the time of application.

I am an Australian citizen and I sponsored my partner to come to nz -we were both living in the uk at the time and had been living together for 5 year.

Give the uk immigration office a ring -I did when I was in the uk they were very helpful.
He will need tosponsor you for a work visa which lasts for 2 years if you have been together for more than 2 years -I think and 12 months if you have Beene together for less time -and from then you can apply for a residency visa. You will both need a uk police check and a police check of any country you have live in over the last 7 years or so I think (or could be less not sure) plus a medical

You need to prove you are in 'genuine and stable relationship ' we did a word doc of pics of us together and evidence like bills etc bank account. It took about 2 months . When you get it they will tell you you need to enter NZ within a certain timeframe I think it's 6 months.

If you need any more help pm me

Debidos it might have something to do with you being a Australian Citizen but agree best to discuss with immigration who know of rule changes etc

Similarly, as a Kiwi I applied for my English wife whilst residing in UK (at that point I had been overseas for over 30 years).

Still took a year and about £1k from memory.
