Default oz visa in NZ and a visit home

Hi,

I wonder if I can get some advice. My wife and I have OZ PR visa's valid till the late part of this year. However we have been living and working in NZ for over a year now in Christchurch. We need to return home later this year, however our OZ pr visa will have expired upon our return., I'm assuming that we will therefore not have a valid visa to get back into OZ. as we have indefinite leave to remain stamps in our current passports we can quite happily stay, however what happens when we go home for a visit.

Do we need to somehow convert to NZ PR visas or apply for RR visas?

Any help appreciated.

You're quite right that if your Aus visas have expired you won't get back in there. You "might" qualify for RRV for Aus, JAJ may be able to advise - how long were you in Aus?
Can't advise on the NZ position though........

If your Oz visas are expired you wont be able to get back as PRs into Oz. You are living in NZ as NZ permanent residents, your passports should have been stamped with a resident permit when you arrived. You should apply for Nz Returning Resident Visas. If you have been in NZ longer than two years you will get an indefinate RRV, if you have been in NZ more than one year but less than two you should get 1 year RRV.
See here

dont leave Nz without a means of getting back in, so apply for your NZ perm res visas.

There is a wiki article:

Do you qualify for Australian RRVs? If not, you will need to get a New Zealand RRV before you leave.
