Offer of skilled employment
 

Hope you guys can help me out with this. I want to move to NZ as a Civil Engineering Technician which is listed as the long term skill shortage.

Obviously you get a load more points if you confirm you have a job lined up for when you land. How does this work though? Why would people agree to give you a job if they aren't 100% certain you'll get let into the country? Also they will have to wait for Visa's etc etc.

I sent a CV to a specialist recruiter, discussed things with them by phone and booked a flight out. They arranged interviews for me while I was over there and one company liked me and my CV enough to make a formal offer. Simple really ;) but it did mean investing over £1k in flight and accommodation to demonstrate I was serious.

Hi,

The company I work for is a large consulting engineering company who often employ people from the UK. They are also acreddited which means that you can get an offer of employment under the WTR visa.
If you PM me I will give you contact details, although I cant promise anything it might be worth a go.

hey,

i came out here on a tourist visa and spent a month selling my soul.. it did pay off for me as I was offered a role with an accrecdited company- i have my application in right now for a work to res visa which is the easiest and quickest visa to get once you have the offer of work (so i have been told).

it's really hard trying to find work while in the UK, especially right now- there is so much press here at teh moment about giving jobs to kiwis before foreigners its getting tougher all the time.. sorry to put a bad spin on things!;)

hey- well at least you get to come out here for a month this way!
