NZQA IQA related question

Hi Folks,

I have a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering that requires IQA. In addition, I hold the following degrees from USA: MS in Electrical Engineering + MBA + a MS in Engineering & Management Systems (all from top-10 universities).

I want to apply as an Electrical Engineer. My questions:

(1) Do I need to include my MBA and MS in Engineering & Management Systems qualifications in the IQA application? If no, how do i cover the gap in my employment history then?

(2) I am currently managing projects in the Electric Power and ICT sectors, in addition to prior experience in the wireless telecom arena. I assume i can claim points for qualification and experience in Future Growth Area (i.e. ICT). Any ideas?

Thanks in advance and best regards.

Re: NZQA IQA related question

you would have to check that the qualifications were obtained through a recognised institution United States of America
also to claim work experience it would have to be obtained in a comparable labour market, which you can check here
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/i35162.htm or be in a multinational company

Re: NZQA IQA related question

thanks MrsFychan... yes the schools are in the list....
regarding your second comment: the https://www.immigration.govt.nz/pointsindicator/ website asks:
Was the work experience gained in a comparable labour market or an area of absolute skills shortage?
The word "or" provides two options: either comparable labour market or an area of absolute skills shortage, doesn't it?

Re: NZQA IQA related question

no it must be in a comparable market or for a multinational company
"Work experience
You may be able to claim points for your previous work experience. However, your experience must be relevant. It must be:
in the same field as your recognised qualification, or
in the same field as your current employment in New Zealand/your offer of skilled employment in New Zealand.
Another way you can get points for your work experience is if the work experience required, or helped you gain, specialist, technical, or management skills and experience. Those skills and experience must be relevant to an occupation that may be considered skilled employment.
What if I do not have a job/job offer?
If you do not have a skilled job or job offer in New Zealand, any work experience you claim points for must have been in a comparable labour market.

We may award points for work experience in countries that are not 'comparable labour markets', but only if you were working:
for a multinational commercial entity domiciled in one of these listed countries, or
in an area of absolute skill shortage."

Work experience

Re: NZQA IQA related question

thanks but still says the same thing: points for experience in incomparable labor market may be awarded if it's in an area of absolute skill shortage.
