NZ Police Curriculum Vitae

I have seen that NZ Police require a CV completing.
Does anybody know what they actually require on it. Are they looking at a normal CV or do they want more emphasis on what I have done within the police in the UK? For example are they wanting examples of work and/or achievements and good results from jobs that I have dealt with.

Jason,
I have been in touch recently with one of the recruitment officers over the possibility of me retiring from here and joining over there. He says there is nothing to stop me trying but in his experience, i would be the oldest recruit he has seen at the college. 52 old?
They would require a full CV but expansion on your Police experience. Put everything in it mate. Peace courses, the lot.
I am now looking at other ways to get there when i retire in June 08.
I have just today received an e-mail from an immigration company over here saying that there is 3000+ people waiting to join the NZ Police.!!
Good luck

Hi Mal.
Thanks for the reply. That is useful to know.
I think the immigration company that you have contacted are either misinformed or using certain tactics to get you to use them. I have been in contact with one of the recruitment assistants in Auckland. I have e-mailed my registration to them and they have said that they are two weeks behind processing the forms. They will then contact me regarding the rest of the process. From that I would be surprised if there were 3000 + people waiting to get in.

Re: NZ Police Curriculum Vitae

I went to a police recruitment seminar in Auckland in May and everyone there was told that if you wanted to join the Auckland police there is still a shortage in officers and people applyinh and you will get in quickly.

If you want to join the Police in other area's of NZ there can be up to a three year waiting list.

Not sure if this would apply if you have decent level of service from the UK though?

I have 14 years UK service plus grade 1 driver/family liaison etc and they were suggesting that subject to passing the fitness and getting PR i would be straight in and even into a specialised job fairly quickly........

That sounds interesting. Got any details of who to contact? Even at the ripe old age of 52, i dont think i would have any probs with the fitness requirments.

I have served 10 yrs as a Police Officer in Scotland and have been thinking about civilian jobs within the NZ police when I get out. If we get PR I will definitely consider a job as a police constable again.

I asked about jobs as a civilian in the Police and was told that they only recruit trainers etc from within but not sure about office workers.

Well they have recently advertised for a number of what i'd call civi posts in the local papers including a counter clerk and goaler so someone's told you porkies.

The police here do seem to have many roles that are now civilianised in the UK, filled by uniformed officers though, so maybe thats where the 'roles filled from within' comes from. Think of the desk and 9-5 type roles that used to be freely available in the pre lates 90's UK police and thats what NZ police seems like.

At the seminar i went to the recruitment guy there was saying to the crowd....

'uniformed patrol is something you have to put up with doing for two years before you can get a nice job like a 9-5'....:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Not sure about you guys but the idea of driving a desk is not my idea of police work. If i was to rejoin it would be for the buzz of patrol work again.

Totally agree.............but we will be on work visas so I was thinking along the lines of civilian posts such as crime analyst etc...........boring .................but not bad money in comparison to the rest:thumbup:
