Just a quick question - we meet the criteria for citizenship. Does anyone know how long ittakes to process from date of submission? Tks

I think it depends on where you are as the ceremonies are held. Does the web site not have any data? http://www.dia.govt.nz/Services-Citi...s?OpenDocument

Hi Mrs F, I'm in Auckland. The website states about 4 months but could take longer... I was just wondering if anyone had been through it recently. Not to worry

We did it about 5 years ago now, so I can't remember the actual timeline. Might have posted something on here then. For some bizarre reason our applications were split up and one went to Welly and the other stayed in Auckland . It was waiting for the ceremony that took the most time. I think we applied in April and our ceremony was in September 2010. I shall have a search. Of course, with the advent of this blummin' supercity it could well be faster or slower!

We applied on 14th April 2010 and ceremony was in Orewa earlyish in September 2010.

Re: NZ Citizenship question

I went through the citizenship process via the Auckland office last year. The whole process from application to citizenship took ten weeks and most of that time was spent waiting for the ceremony because citizenship isn't granted until attending the ceremony.

The location and frequencies of the ceremonies vary depending on where the applicant lives. The ceremony that I attended was in the Auckland Town Hall - I lived in Parnell at the time, but I have heard of people that live on the North Shore attending ceremonies at the Bruce Mason centre in Takapuna so I suspect that there are several locations but they might have amalgamated them now that the whole city is one council.
