Default NVQ,APPRENTICESHIP & TRADE QUALIFICATIONS

Hi there,
I have asked a question before re carpentry qualifications but our situation has changed a bit so just wanted to check the following-
my husband is studying part time and will end up with an NVQ level 3 in Woood Occupations (carpentry) which according to other helpful people on this site is an equivalent of the NZ National Certificate so therefore enough for skilled migrant visa.
However because of my husbands age (33) he does not need to do an apprenticeship to achieve this qualification so will just end up with the nvq level 3 (advanced).
Has anybody else been successful getting out to NZ on a trade qualification without a completed apprenticeship?
Any advice would be really appreciated
