Non resident starting a Business in NZ or not?

Hi,

I am already here in NZ on a work visa from the UK. My wife and I want to start up a business in NZ.

Anyone know if we can?
Any limitations?
Will we have to apply for a different type of visa?

Any help is most appreciated.
