No one ever said life was easy

Hi everyone and anyone,
Hoping someone can help us. Just found out after a visit to NZ house in London that our 22 year old daughter cannot come in on our PR application as she is not deemed dependant. Was advised to get her over to NZ on a working holiday visa/permit. This did not phase us too much as were told that the visa lasted 23 months, but on further investigation have discovered that she cannot work for more than 12 months. We are not clear as to whether this means that she can only work for 12 months out of the 23 months or whether in means she can not work for more than 12 months in any one job. Can anyone throw any light on this for us??? Please!!!!!! Just when we thought we had all of our questions answered Ha. Still we had a good long weekend in London as part of our quest.

Can't work for more than 12 months out of 23 total.

Not sure how much you have had a chance to look into the immigration site but check:

Oh, and as another resort, after getting a NZ WHV she could also apply for an Australian one. It wouldn't help long term with her being in NZ but she would be closer to you. Purchasing a flight between Australia and NZ is a lot cheaper than a flight between London and Auckland. :)

Or tell her to start hanging out at a kiwi pub in London and get her to move in with a nice kiwi boy about to return home. After living with him in NZ and Australia she would be with him long enough to apply for a de facto permit. A work colleague is currently in the process of doing this.

Be your daughters pimp :sneaky:

disclaimer: only a good idea if she actually likes the guy. Otherwise, could be a bit mercenary....

simple.. get a working holiday... she can get a perminant job offer and apply for a work permit... then submit an EOI and begin the process in her own right,, its been done many times before..

So lets see if i've understood this right squidworth, She can come over on a working holiday visa and, if she manages to find an employer who will offer her a perm job, she can then apply for a work permit over there?

Re: No one ever said life was easy

That is correct. The problem is possibly whether she has the experience/expertise to get that visa. Some people have no problems and others do.

But yes, essentially, that is correct.

Thanks Kiwiprincess
That has put my mind at rest a little. I'll be glad when all the paper work is done and we are on our way.

yes thats right......I wouldnt worry too much about the experience as they seem to be throwing points at people with job offers, and there are still plenty of jobs, as friends of ours have just done the same...

failing that marry her off!!!! LOL:p
