Default New Zealand Police

Some colleagues of mine have transferred to New Zealand Police

Are there any of you who can tell me:
1. is there an age limit as I am an old git
2. do you get to keep your rank as I dont want to sit a promotion exam again after fluking it
3. can you specialise on transfer?
4. any skills requirements desirable?

or can someone tell me who the best person to ask is please?

Thanks

From what I remember about the recruits that came over:
They did a refresher course at the police college, about ten weeks.
They started in the job as constables, but were on fast-track promotion depending on their rank in the UK.
I'm pretty sure the recruiting age limit is 45.

I dont think there is a recruitment age anymore especially for qualified officers?

As for any skills requirements desirable? The ability to out drive a New Zealand cop (that wont be to hard)

No. I'm not in the job. Just wanted to keep the thread near the top for you

This is a story from last year's recruitment:

http://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/2472.html

Why not email them and see what they say?

Cheers m8 the page was helpful as some of them have obviously kept their specialisms.

I have already contacted NZ Police and registered my interest but have 1001 questions about the job, force and stuff in NZ.

I am trying to trace one of the transferrees who I used to supervise to get his viewpoint on it.

Thanks for your responses. Great
