Hi BEVS

I am new to this site but it is now my new favourite pastime!
My husband has a job offer from an accredited employer who is willing to wait until we sell our house. Our plans are to apply for PR once we are in NZ. Is this the best way forward as I have heard that you have to wait 24 mths before you can apply, is this true? Is there an alternative way? Should we apply from the UK now?

Thanks

We are in the same position. You can apply for a Talent visa and PR in parallel - more costly but it would probably get you there quicker. If time is no object, do PR straight off, can be sorted in a few months if no complications.

Thanks Jan n Neil

Don't want to sound too thick but do you mean apply for PR while we are still in the UK? Can you do that?

Feel really stupid. Didn't realise you could do that. So we could start that ball rolling while we are waiting to sell our house? Great. Is that what you are doing?

Yes. We have a house to sell (which isn't selling at the mo ) and I have a job offer. We have a "selected" EOI and are also doing an Essential Skills visa application to get us there asap. We actually have a NZ lawyer (my employer is paying for us) as we both have some niggling health issues apparently, but most people do it without.

Loads of good info on here: for example, if you have over 140 points your EOI will be automatically selected and you can go from there

Thanks 4 that Jan. How long has your house been up for sale 4? Ours has been up for 11 mths now but we have just dropped the price by £25k (ouch) and we are getting some new interest. We don't want to go until we have sold the house as all our funds are tied up in the house.
Will start looking at lodging an EOI after reading up about it on here.
Speak soon

It was up for 2 years, 3 years ago, then I got this job offer so we tried again at £60k off that last price (double ouch) and had lots of viewers but no offers. We will go even if it is not sold (maybe rent it out and sit out the housing crisis) but it would have bought us a lovely property in NZ
