Hi Concretepump and welcome to the BE NZ forum.

If you have enough points and have a job offer to boot, then there is no reason why you shouldn't gain PR . As you know you will need to meet the health and character standards.

The long term shortage list has been pruned of late because of recession but if your occupation is still in shortage in NZ , then you can claim bonus points.

If your occupation is on either the long or the immediate shortage lists then an employer is free to offer you a job. If not, then the NZ employer has to prove there is no NZ resident or citizen who could fill that vacancy.

Link to the POINTS INDICATOR if you haven't already checked your points.

hi bevs

job is not on skills list, but its a skilled job , even though nz wont recognise it
last time the firm i worked for had an advert in the papers for about a year, so thats how i got in they want me to go back , but with nz immigration not renewing some visas, which is why i would want pr before i come back,
wont be untill early next year we have things to sort out here first
points are 135 even if they trim that will still make over 100

Do you mean it's not currently on the shortages lists but is on the list of skilled occupations?

Is it to do with concrete pumps then?

With the situation as it is , would you and this company consider employing a licensed immigration consultant? Preferably one NZ based and one that has a bit of weight. I'm thinking a lawyer based one. They would be better placed to put forward the case for your skills being needed and specialised.
