mental health nurse

Hi, I'm training as a mental health nurse. Can anyone tell me if this qualification is recognised in NZ?

Re: mental health nurse

YES!

The training here isn't branch specific so the MH nurses have only had, at best, a ten week placement in MH when they qualify and enter MH nursing. MH nurses from UK are very keenly snapped up although you'll be placed on the starting salary along with the NZ trained nurses, which is grossly unfair given you will be practically mentoring them.

The MH nursing culture is quite different though and some practices happen that are a real shock (dh is a MH nurse here)

HTH

PS- heaps of jobs on the DHB websites. We came over with dh as newly qualified because he's a NZ citizen and didn't need a visa. I don't know if you need work expereince to get a visa?
