Default medicals done, now next hurdle.

Hi All,

We had our Medicals done this morning.

Have to wait now, 3 weeks, Doc on Holiday, for the paper work to be checked over and for the extra blood tests results before the overall results are returned.

My BMI 32, Wife upset at 41, but both of us had the extra tests to do. Lucky we hadn't eaten so we could have test done without having to return.

How does these BMI results effect us now? Do we have to reduce them even if the blood test results are OK?

Oh, no one mentioned about the Hernia Check. (Drop and cough)

NZQA finally done Quals check. No email to let me know outcome. Looks like a wait for Courier now.

Next, Police Certificates.

I read on another thread regarding time period for SMC for allocation off CO and approval. Does NZIS keep your Passport for that long? What if you need them during that period?

well until the next thrilling installment...........

Well done on getting through them
Its such a relief to know its over. Its a bit of a bummer you have to wait so long before you get all the results. If you have been good - you know the police checks are a formality, but the medicals are a whole different ball game - no pun intended

I hope all goes smooth for you.

Do you have a job offer to go with the stuff? when are you hoping to get over there?
Just nosey

Another thing off the tick list at least guys. My bmi was 38, had extra bloods which came back normal, however, others have helped on here by saying whats happened with them and one had to be deferred until her bi got under 35 and then went back, bummer eh??? Although others posted to us to say that their bmi was higher and as thier extra bloods were clear nothing was said and they were fine to go, so nobody knows really untill they send theri reports bck to our case officers

So I started on a diet, have lost 1 stone so far and exercising like mad (and I do not do exercise), lol. Our medicals were referred to the medical assessor by case officer last week, so trying to get a step ahead of them. Spoke with somebody last week as I questioned why oh's medical had been referred as he fit and healthy and bmi was well under and was told that anybody that has had any surgery have to be referred to the medical assessor to be reviewed (cover theri backsides basically) he had a fatty lump removed about 3 weeks ago from his kneck. So they are very much on the ball.

I started on the porridge as avdised by lots on this site and it has done me good, so fingers crossed for you I know exactly how oh is feeling, I personaly have put myself under pressure as there may be a chance that if I cannot get my bmi under 35 if they ask me to, I could be the one who prevents all of us going, but I am sur eit will all work out fine for all of us.

Hello Nosey

No job to go to at the moment. Looking though........so no plans to head / settle in any particular area, will go were there is a job. But prefer New Plymouth, Napier or Nelson as the top choices at moment.

Seems no one is interested unless we are already there. No rush at the moment for us to go, just getting things in place, just incase our luck changes.

as per previous threads, I regard myself too specialised in work, A Printer fixer. Multiskilled though, but not much paperwork to prove it. Mean time trying to learn CISCO networking, seeing if that could help me.

Wish my Maths was better so I could have achieved a Degree, had to make do with a HND instead. Crossing fingers NZQA does class it as a Level 6, if not then wasted the money and will be thrown back into the pool as would have lost the 25 points and gone back down to 100points hence NO 2nd ITA chance.

One thing that did catch my eye, if I had the money to invest, was a Marine Electrical Business. Could see myself working with boats

The Wife shouldnt have too much difficulty finding an Office Manager type role, always being head hunted over here.

Rite, back to the chores.

We are hoping to head to Hamilton, if you end up that way on and you get all your chores done you could join us for a beer

Hi Tina

Just wondering who told you that anyone who had had surgery gets referred to MA??
Got me worried now.....I had minor orthopaedic surgery in early 60's plus blood transfusion & MRP post child birth....declared all this at medical and Doc didnt mention need for referral .... not had completed forms back yet but he did say everything was ok just have to wait for blood results....would he have said if there was a need for referral or does this decision get made by CO?

Hi B

I had to e-mail an emergency contact (from nz house) that our c/o gave us incase we needed to contact whilst she was on anual leave and I asked him, he told me that all operations apart from a tonsilectomy and a cesarean (forgive the spelling just dont look right lol) section had to go to the medical assessor, worried me too, as I had knee surgey last year, I am under a specialist for underactive thyroid and a cardiologist, which I am also gathering that I will need to get recent reports from as read one of the other threads a few weeks ago. I dont want to frighten anyone, but that was what he told me please if anyone gas been told different please let me know as it will calm my nerves down a bit

He did say, however, we (the c/o's) have to send them as it covers us, and its up to the medical assessor to decide if ok or want more info. Hope this helps a bit.

Just another hoop to jump maybe!! Hope your referral soon sorted lol

WELL DONE on the weight hun!....keep at it, low GI certainly seems to be effective

soya products naturally lower cholesterol as well - so if you put soya milk on your cornflakes?
