Medical Referred Again

My medical has already been referred once and come back requiring a letter with regard to slightly higher than average blood tests on some bits. After obtaining a letter from the doctor saying it wasnt anything serious basically 'just me' and that I showed no other symptoms, so all okay, I find out today that its still not been sent off eventhough they have had it two weeks!!!

Also they now need to send off my x-ray to a further 'specialist' but this cant be sent off until my blood one comes back - when I enquired why they couldnt be sent off separately as they are going to two different places, was told it was procedure and each query had to be signed off in order.

Everythings stalled, and its all my fault!!!

Did enquire about a work visa, as my husband doesnt want his new boss getting fed up and pulling out, but was told that that particular department is even further behind than the SMC one and in his opinion he wouldnt waste his money as he's sure we would get PR before a temporary one would be granted. Said we could go to London and take the chance they wernt busy and they 'might' do it that day, but otherwise would just go into the system. Unfortunately we live in Devon which is too far to keep travelling up on the offchance.

Wouldnt mind, the x-ray shows damage to my vertebra which I didnt even know I had. Friend of mine who is a Radiologist says it shouldnt even be being diagnosed from a chest x-ray and should have a specific spinal one. Seems like the damage I have is quite common, often caused by childbirth (or so she says). Now trying to pre-empt them by getting a letter from my Doctor saying I have never been to them with this problem, otherwise I can see them wanting it and causing more hold up's.

Looking at another 4-6 weeks for this to go through before PR in principal (hopefully).

Just hope I dont ruin everything
Thanks for listening.

Re: Medical Referred Again

They do certainly come up with some weird requests:sneaky: Just paid out £200 for a specialists report which was my third rreferralall totally confusing to my GP! When they say jump you know the question to ask....there is no other way. Almost as difficult in getting into the UK........:rofl:

Keep giving them what they want and good luck....:fingerscrossed:

I know, thats why I am trying to get ahead and have a letter from the Doctor before they ask for it - hopefully might save some time!!! Thanks

Hi, just out of intrest when you log onto the NZ immigration website what status does it say for your medicals if they have been reffered as mine just states recieved and not wether they have been accepted. Now i wouldnt imagine there is any reason in the slightest for a referal but then it seems that others dont really have a problem yet they find one.

Mine says received too, seems if there are any queries, or slightly above or below average results you get referred. My x-ray is going to a Radiology Consultant, which is ironic as thats who signed it off in the first place - talk about going round in circles.

Don't confuse any requests from NZ Immigration to be based in any way on logic.....;) I am beginning to believe the medical referrals are a means of stretching out case officer allocation because they are so far behind......:sneaky:

Ours didn't update on the website, but as ours was a family visa and 2 of us got referred not sure they have the ability to do it. We got an email from the case officer saying mine and my daughters where being referred. Then an email back when they came back. Was slightly miffed about mine going off as the radiologist and the Dr who did our reports both stated mine where absolutely fine. After I got the email about mine being referred and why I went straight down to my own GP and got more xrays done that day and looked at and was told there was nothing there so was ready if they wanted to make something of it, which in the end they didn't. :D

They can charge what they like so it's best to get the list, find the one's nearest to you and phone them and get quotes.

Re: Medical Referred Again

Yes they are all different prices, our X-rays cost us £110 each and the medicals with blood tests etc were £460 for 2x adults and one baby.

Re: Medical Referred Again

just checked our costs and they where:

£180 for my medical and £50 for my xray, the kids are £80 each for their medicals.

so 180 x 2
50 x 2
80 x 2 = £620

Think children over 12 have to have xrays and full medical (?)

Re: Medical Referred Again

X-rays varied from £95.00 to £110. The actual medicals varied from £750.00 down to £500 - we chose one for £565 which wasnt the cheapest but could do it the fastest as you will find some are really booked up as they only do half a day a week. Suggest you contact all those within a reasonable distance and find out not just prices, but availability too.

Re: Medical Referred Again

Thanks for the info, i called both the ones that are available in my city & there's a £70 price difference - its so expensive - much cheaper to get it done in NZ ( i had one there a 2008)
