Default Math teacher awaiting assessment -which work permit

Hello Happynz,

my question is very specific. I'm a MAths eacher in England and I've got a job offer in a town around Auckland. This is to start in the middle of July and I NZQA has not assessed my qualifications yet and therefore I'm not fully registered as a teacher. I know that my new school can apply for a few more days without me being registered, but...in terms of visa...What type of visa is the best for me to apply? Thanks

Hmmm...that's a toughie. I am not in the state school sector. I'm just a word-slinger working in a private English language school. I think the best course of action is to have your employer do a bit of the leg work getting your visa status sorted. After all, your skills are highly in demand so your employer needs to lend you a hand.

I haven't had the pleasure of having to get registration with the state schools so I'm afraid I am fairly ignorant in that area. Sorry, but I can't help much in that area.

As far as I am aware & I am not a teacher, you cannot take up a work permit or visa without having registration from the teaching council.
