LTBV-when to apply for residency

We have been here 6 months and have got the balance of our 3 year LTBV. Business is doing well, wife has job when can we apply for residency , do we have to wait till end of 3 years? we will be consulting an immigration lawyer but would value your input as always:confused:

What job does your wife do, you may be able to apply for residency through her rather than the LTBV. I think that you can apply for residency after 2½ years on a LTBV.
