Hi all, as some of you may be aware my OH has been back to UK since September working. He is returning January and has decided if he can't get a job here he will go back to UK for 4-5 months every year to work. Sounds great in principle but does that affect his PR? Also, I know he has to spend the majority of the year here but as he left Sept this year does that mean he won't be able to go back to UK until after Sept next year? Not sure when the year starts if you see what I mean :confused: Bevissa

I have no idea but you also need to think about tax implications which kick in depending on where you spend most time.

There's the NZ 4 year rule to consider as well re tax. On the days out of the country(NZ), you might be ok, the allowance is quite generous before it affects PR but not sure of the exact number.

RV2.5.1 Significant period of time spent in New Zealand
A principal applicant has demonstrated a commitment to New Zealand if they have been in
New Zealand as a resident for a total of 184 days or more in each of the two 12-month
portions of the 24 months immediately preceding the date the date their application for a
permanent resident visa was made (ie, in each of the two 12-month portions, a period or
periods that amount to 184 days or more).
