just a wee question
 
i was reading through some old threads and wondered about the different ways people imigrate
we were offered jobs in may but turned them down because we thought we needed to go through application process here (take too long), could we have accepted the jobs went to NZ then applied to stay

In that case, I would have said the answer was yes. You could have applied for temp work visas and if granted arrived in NZ and then started a PR application.

Of course you would have needed your nurse registration in place and all that stuff first.

OK.

I would have thought an NZ employer looking for psych nurses would have waited for you anyway.

Still. The above couple of posts are just my view .Maybe try it out on the main forum where more people look in.
