ITA to work permit if necessary

Hi all
We are awaiting the draw on 25th July with an expectation that we will then get an invitation to apply. We are hopeful as my wife is a health professional and has been offered a job at Middlemore Hospital, south Auckland. Her updated EOI now has 175 points. Whilst we have already sent for Police certs and booked a medical, my wife has agreed to start work on 1st October. Can anyone that has experienced this kind of situation advise us of the process should the residence visa be delayed/slow? Particularly the process of applying for work visas (there are three of us, my wife, seventeen year old son and myself).
We would be grateful for any helpful advice.
P.s. we do have a relocation support advisor linked with the hospital but I feel those with real life experience can advise with greater knowledge.
Regards
Ian

Re: ITA to work permit if necessary

if your wives job is on the required lists and she has a job offer then she shouldn't need a work visa just the PR approved. it might be stretching it to get the visa's by 1st Oct, not sure on the time scales atm but in 2012 it was 3mths for the initial checks then another 2 weeks for the secondary then a week to get the visa stamps for us. Maybe once you have been allocated a CO you can give them all the dates and keep your fingers crossed. would be a ral shame if you have to pay out extra for a works visa for which might jut amount to a month or so.
If I have misread your post I'm sure someone will be along to put me right :)
