ITA Submitted

hi all

just wanted to put it into words.

I've just sealed a huge special delivery envelope containing our ITA and documents for our skilled migrant application. Tomorrow I will post it.

OMG, what a weight off my shoulders. I know there is still more stress to come (and a bit of a wait) but the way I see it is that it's out of my hands now, all my work is done!!!!

Glass of wine tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!

we haven't got a solid plan yet as neither of us have job offers but we're looking at a 1-2 year move (if all goes according to plan and we get PR straight away) - if we get WTR then we'll have to get on our bikes a lot sooner but ideally 1-2 years.

North island ideally - like the idea of better weather but we're flexible, will go where the jobs are.

good luck for meds/ITA!!! looks like we're all in the same boat which in encouraging.

Let me know how long it takes you to ring NZIS just to see where your residence application is up to! £1 a minute or not I'm ringing them tomorrow, the suspense is killing me now.

Well we're approved in principle! How did that happen!! Apparently they sent a letter on the 8/12 which we've never received and also an email - not had either. Pretty weird methinks. £1 a minute woman was sure though. I'm still a bit dubious though, being a realist I want to see the blue of those stickers! They are blue aren't they? :D

They don't seem to be particularly great at getting back to people. When I took my ITA in I was told I'd get a letter in 14 days - nothing came! So when I got my Approval in Principle last week it came out of the blue. I took my passport back in so they could issue the visa, also sent an email to my case officer to let him know and almost a week later hadn't hear anything back. So I sent another email yesterday, got a reply within a few hours to say he was waiting for my passport to be lodged and that due to it being a busy time of year it would take 2-3 weeks for the visa to be issued! That's almost as long as it took for the ITA to be issued!!!

Should I wait until I have the passport back to book the flights, or can I go ahead with that anyway?

Are all medicals the same for the ITA ????

Hi kimberleyclarke2

Good luck tomorrow for your medicals !!
Are medicals all the same? Or do some GP's just make you do silly things to 'jazz-it-up' a little??

My husband had his meds approx 8weeks ago for job approval. All went OK, got the ITA etc etc, so now it's meds for me and the two children.

Trying to fit the meds in this week before Xmas, for the three of us at one appointment was not going to happen. So I had mine yesterday and the children had theirs today. (the children had the same GP as my hubby).

My medical was odd - not what I expected at all !! What my husband said would happen didn't.

I was told to strip to bra & pants. Hubby only had to remove his shirt.
I had the old knee knocking experiment - he didn't.
Hubby & kids had to touch & turn their head. Balance on one leg, pull knees up to chest. Get both arms up behind their backs. None of this for me!!

Both my children had underarm checks through their clothing but I was already stripped and my hubby had to take his top off !

Do the GP's just make it up as they go along?
My point is.... Is there a standard? If there is.... we didn't see it !

It'll be interesting to hear what another women has to say about their experience!

I didn't have to strip off! I was just asked to lay on a bed and undo my buttons so that he could check my womb (like the midwives do!), had the reflex test and checked my heart and blood pressure and that was about it!

Hi Steelblue!

Had our medicals today. Luckily everything seemed to be ok. We went to a medical centre where they did everything at once instead off going to see different people.

1st we had our chest x-rays done. I had to remove my top and bra and just wear a gown, OH did the same.

2nd we had our eye tests, blood pressure and bloods taken. We were weighed, had our waists measured as well as our height, nothing unusual happened there.

3rd we had an examination from the doctor. He checked our eyes, ears and throats. We also had to remove our tops so he could listen to our heart and chest then just felt our stomachs to make sure everything was where it should be.

That was it all over. We didnt have to do any of the strange things you and your family had to do!!:p

Hi GetMeThere !

All the medicals are now done (Don't worry - I've put my clothes back on!! :o ) Now for the paper mountain. I wondered if I could ask you a few questions about the ITA submission please ?

Did you send your original documents with just a photocopy? or
Did you send certified copies?
Have you posted your passports with the ITA for the VISA's and included the payment ready for the 'stickers' ??
Also, they mention a covering letter.... What did you do for that ?
How / what courier did you use ? Was it mega expensive?

Does anyone else have any views on the above, that they want to share please? When I post the envelope Monday, I want to be sure I'm doing the right thing ! :)

cheers!

Re: ITA Submitted

Hi Steelblue,

I took my ITA in as I live in London, but here's what I did re photocopies etc:
I gave in the originals with photocopies of everything, it could save time if they decided they wanted to see the original of something later on.

I took my passport in but was given it back to send in again, however once I got my approval in principle I had to take it back in again. This meant that it had to be lodged again and it took at least 5 days to do that!! Otherwise I might already have had my stickers by now! So my advice is if you have a tight schedule send it in with the ITA. I sent in my card details for the migrant levy so they can sort that out themselves.

As for the covering letter, all I did was state what visa I was applying for, EOI number, and list all the documents I was providing and whether they were originals or photocopies etc., and in what order they were.

Hope that helps! Good luck :-)

Re: ITA Submitted

Hi

pretty much the same as previous poster.

our cover letter was very basic, just stating the visa type, what documents were included etc.

we included photocopies behind each original document and yes, we did include our passports (but only because we didn't have any certified copies to hand and didn't have the time/money needed to go back to the solicitor to get them done) so this was the only reason. we didn't include the payment for blue stickers because we are not in a hurry for our visas as we have no job. so we'll pay that once we've been approved in principal but they will already have our passports so we won't have to send them in. thankfully we're not planning to travel in the next few months.

we sent ours special delivery via the post office. it cost around £6 for the special delivery package and it got there safely by 1pm next day. so i would recommend that.

good luck!!! hope all goes well

We sent certified copies. we used a notary and got it all done for around £25 quid. That included several certified copies of all the relevant certs. quals, marriage, etc. I did several copies of each . That price is for 5 years ago. A notary can be cheaper than a solicitor.

That is up to you. If you send the passports with the ITA , then they will take the migrant levy fee straight away and start issuing the PR stickers. If you wait and then send in the passports after PR is granted , then you gain a few weeks . Y9u need to look at your time line re. this.

We just stated that we were set on coming to NZ to settle having researched and also visited. We thanked them for their time and effort .

We had both temp work visas and our EOI going on at the same time. I went to London myself for the temp work visas.
For the EOI-ITA-PR I used the envelope that NZIS sent to me.
