Default ITA Plan B, C and D!

Well after all the deliberations, reading etc it looks as though our ITA application is scuppered. We still have 3.5 months though so not giving up easily.

Despite 12 years experience, because my degree doesn't Major in computer Science, I cannot claim the bonus points for being a programmer.

Would like to hear your views, and and advise on the following alternatives:

1) Drop the bonus points on our EOI application, which will take us below 140 points. Can we proceed, or would it go back into the pool?

2) Change my vocation to an Electronic engineer ... with less experience. Get bonus points for this, so still over 140 points. Would I then need to get employed as such once in New Zealand? This also assumes my boss is willing to be a little "creative" when writing a reference.

3) Get a job offer ... easier said that done as we still have our house to sell.

4) Give up on this application, get house sold and then re-apply once in NZ

thanks for reading,

Lou

Best of luck Lou, I think that it would definitely be worth still proceeding, with the 140 points We are looking at the very real possibility that we'll need a medical waiver because my Hubby has failed his medical). We are waiting for specialist advice, and are trying to get as much supporting info as possible, in order to give ourselves a fighting chance. They certainly dont make things easy do they!

Best of luck with it all Ali, and as you say .. there is certainly no easy route!

Have been advised on another forum to continue as is ... it will mean we drop to 125 points, but that should mean we just get processed later? I am going to chat to immigration first before forking out the money for medicals and NZQA.

Thinking about it .. we have a 4 month window to return the ITA, and then London say without job offers it's then taking another 3-4 month before they even look at it, so have bags of time to try and get that all ellusive job offer.

Am sure the grey hairs are multiplying daily!

Lou, you could try emailing NZIS (the address is in the ITA letter), and see what they advise?

Hi Lou,
Don't give up! We sold our house and moved into rented accomodation, my husband then got a job through a govenment funded agency who put his CV to various schools (he's a teacher) and within a matter of a couple of weeks he got a job offer. Our application was then given priority and here we are!!!
Good luck
Amanda
