Default Interim work permit

Hi,

Does anyone know how long can you get a work permit or interim work permit? Also, how long does it take to process?

I am on a contract which expires in Feb 2011 and am in the process of applying for PR. To be on the safe side, I thought I can apply for a permit in order to carry on working before granting a PR.

Cheers,
Claire

If you have a full time , permanent job offer with a prescribed end date, then you can apply for a temporary work permit to that date.

If the occupation isn't on the immediate or long term shortage list, then the employer will have to prove that there is no NZ resident or citizen that could take that job.
