Is immigration without qualifications possible?

Hi everyone,

I am a UK locksmith and there are no qualificatons over here for my trade, i was planning to immigrate to Australia but since september they stopped immigrants who rely entirely on work experience. Does anybody know if this is the same deal for new zealand or is it still possible to immigrate without qualifications related to your trade?

Any help would be gratefully apreciated, as im very confused, thanks!

Re: Is immigration without qualifications possible?

Hi Xander

We emigrated successfully in 2004, based solely on my work experience.

We managed this through a slightly round about route, coming here initially on visitors permits, successfully applying for a job, then applying for a work permit, then by virtue of actually being and working in NZ, we then had sufficient points to scrap through the Permanent Residency process.

The key to the whole thing, is if the NZIS will regard your trade as "skilled" employment. And to be honest, I do not know what the benchmark for that is these days.
