Default Immigration Medical

Our medicals came thru last week for our residency and while i'm all good to go..hubby's liver function is showing some abnormalities...bilirubin is a bit high (48) and alk. phosphatase!!! is also a bit high (126)...has any one else had any similar results and expereinces? the doc thinks its not a big deal as its a very marginal increase and everything else is normal!! We're just going to send this in and take it from there...just wondering if any one else had any issues with a slightly higher than normal results!...

Yes OH did. We were sent to liver specialist as the MA decided that he must have liver disease (!). His appointment is on Wednesday.

INZ works to limits: if you are at all outside them, you have to have it investigated.

The Panel Doctor said that it was probably simply due to him being a bit heavy and liking a drink: in other words not something that would cause NZ $25000. However, with readings like those (which are similar to his) you will get sent for more tests. They of course will probably find nothing except perhaps a "fatty liver" and you will be fine.

But the stress is not helpful

Hiya

i am in NZ and had my medical... i too had a high GGT or something reading (normal was 0-50 and mine was 80).... the doctor said it was nothing to worry about but immigration had to send it to their medical advisors... in then end as im applying for a work permit they said that they accept the readings..

not sure if they will ask for further tests as you might be applying for residency

It did get delayed at medical advisors for 6 weeks tho !!!

I kindda think that this also link to the fact they want kiwis to get jobs first... So if they delay "medical issues" then they save time and perhaps "we" loose job offers and end up not going...

Excuse my negative approach... just a thought!

Maybe just a thought..But a good one never the less
Im in a similar position,my application has been dragging on for months, first medical stuff, which finally got sorted, then they wanted more information about my job offer.God knows why cos i have already given them everything....
And now, just when i thought i was going to get their decision...
They want another character reference....AAHHHHHHHHHH..WHEN DOES IT END...
So i am also beginning to think what Metewx is thinking....

it is a long and frustrating process, BUT i,m all for it if me and her are having this much trouble it means every tom dick and harriet are not gonna get in, and i wont have to support them and TBH thats the main reason we are leaving the UK,

So i will do whatever they require of me in the knowlege that i am going to a place that looks after it,s own citizens as it should

I don't want to depress you (though I am probably going to), but Neil's ALT results went down significantly after a bit of exercise and diet, tho not quite into the required band, and his consultant said no medication was required. But we found out today that his 2 year temporary visa application has not been approved.

Our lawyers argued that he was not going to cost them $25000 in the next 2 years because his consultant said no meds were necessary but NZIS have not budged.

Difficult times. I am required to start work 1st Sept, employer has paid for flights, and we don't know when he will be allowed in. House sold, no car, both given up our jobs.......

I am really really sorry to hear your news
- unlike alot of people, I think I can imagine exactly how you feel.....

can I just ask what level Neil's ALT was and is now?
- Stewart's was 70 and I see it should be below 40
- just checked mine and see it's 16 and needs be under 35 so it is possible to have quite low....

bugga bugga bugga bugga bugga!!!!!!!

at least at this point all we have commited at the moment is money I guess
- ironic that I was just aranging to have our furniture shipped out next week so that it would be there we when arrived

what is your next step?
- you have your visa or is it a joint application?
- do you have children you're taking over?

I'm really sorry to be bothering you at a time like this
- it really does feel like life-or-death, doesn't it...

Neils ALT is now 60 having reduced dramatically with exercise and diet, and should be below 45 I think?

I have my visa, he applied as my partner. We don't have kids to take. The container is booked for next week as are the dogs We have decided that I must go, my employer have waited 5 weeks extra for me cos of all this, and I am needed now. However they are also working with our lawyers to speed up the process for Neil. However, in essence I will be getting on the plane not actually knowing when I will see Neil again. As I said in another thread, how to split up a family.

I should also explain that it is a dream job for me, an extraordinary opportunity which significantly enhances my CV, and fulfills long held career ambitions for me. If it was not, we would have thrown in the the towel by now, because the last thing we want to do is live apart We are getting married in February, in NZ - if they let him in
