Immigration agency or otherwise?

After years of talking we are finally acting! Do we apply ourselves or use an agency? We are on an island on West Coast of Scotland. Our nearest city is Glasgow, if there any agencies there.

Thanks in advance,

Marion

Do it yourself unless complicated or something that may prevent you from obtaining a visa without adjustment.

Save your money, whilst I'm sure there are good immigration agencies they simply put together your applications. You still have to obtain and provide the evidence. You can get enough information from this and similar forums to get you through?

Is there a specific reason why your considering an lawyer?

IT still on the skills list so you shouldn't have any problems.
You will just need to get an appropriate job offer to up those points.

Have you redone the points calculator as your 120 points from last time may well be different due to increase in age? and looking outside Auckland now gives you 30 points instead of the previous 10.

Thanks. No reason for needing a lawyer. I didn't realise that's what they were! Just thought it would be easier to cut through red tape.

normal immigration agents are not lawyers but people that has supposedly know the latest information on the immigration requirements and have been certified as such.
If the situation was a medical one or refugee one then you would maybe require a specialised immigration agent.

Completely agree - the hard slog is getting all the info together - in particular NZQA stuff to verify qualifications from education - which you would be doing even if you did have an agent. We are awaiting on our SMV result and just had to be meticulous that we had made copies of all originals...double checked, triple checked we had everything they were asking and pay the money ;-)

I thought you needed to either be working in NZ or have a job offer to be able to claim the "outside of Auckland". Is that wrong?

We currently have 125 / 145 depending on CISSP NZQA rating.

sorry correct - you need a job offer outside of Auckland to claim those points but does give you options to look elsewhere if you are not set on Auckland as the place to come and need to more points
