Hypothetical visa question

Lets say I live in NZ, get PR and citizenship then several years later a nephew in the UK wants to join me to live.

Would that be possible, if so how?

Re: Hypothetical visa question

From memory, family visas are only available to parents or children.

Your nephew would have to make his own way here:) That's all I can come up with, sorry

agree, it's hard enough to get older children and parents out

Your nephew would be able to come visit you for a lengthy stay under a working holiday visa.

If he intended to remain in NZ he would be best advised to arm himself with a skill that NZ wants so he would be eligible to apply for residency.

He would need to do this under his own steam.

Ok. Thanks. He's only 9 at the moment, but long story, that's why I am asking now.

Yeah, I've been actively encouraging (manipulating) the thoughts of a few family members to come and join us for a wee while, probably on WHV's.

The way I see it, some of the youngsters (mid-teens to early 20's) in my family are in a bit of a rut in the UK (jobs they don't like, if they have one, living in towns they always complain about) and I think a bit of time seeing somewhere else in the world, albeit with a familiar face nearby will be a good thing for them.

My family aren't very good a broadening horizons to be honest, I'm just trying to give an option to do just that!!

If you had Parental Responsibility for your nephew then guess he could go with you before the age of 16.
