How long for police checks?

How long for police checks?

Just so I can stop having a complete nervous breakdown, can you tell me roughly how long these took to come after you received receipt letter?
I've just found the link to get them processed in super-quick time (at a cost of £70 each!!!) but there's prob no point in that now....
