How long does PR last?
Hi all, as some may know we returned to UK last year after 3 years in lovely Auckland. Now we are back I was wondering how long our PR visa's last? I have a 15 year old daughter who wants to return to NZ when she is 18 and if she goes back so do I! Will our PR still be valid? I assume we will have to send off new passports to NZ house to get them transferred? Thanks for any help. Bevissa

Hi,
If you have either an Indefinite RRV or a Permanent Resident Visa in your passports then you can return whenever you like and take up residency.
Unless the rules change then this can be years from now. The residency does not expire.
Hopefully you did apply for either of the above before your return to the UK, you should have done this when your two yr RRV expired...if not then all may not be lost, it all depends on the timings and how long you've been out of NZ.
A PRV is the new name for the IRRV, the names changed in Nov 2010. If you have an IRRV then you are deemed to hold a PRV. You do not need to change the visa until your passport expires and you transfer your visa. Then you get a PRV sticker in your new passport rather than an IRRV again.
